I've reissued my novel The Dig Street Festival with a new preface about the road to here. Working on a paperback version too. It was first published by the lovely Louise Walters in 2021, but LWB closed in 2023.

I've enjoyed it. I want my book to live and quietly find its people.

Me and my chum, Pepys. Got a real thrill from seeing this in The Portrait Gallery. I adore Samuel Pepys- though I don’t think he’ll be presenting Masterchef anytime soon…

Hi Jude. Hope you’re well. Still whittling the list down?

Is anyone wanting literary fiction? Or is the whole market bollocks now?

I’m writing another novel about where we *are* (sizeable subject), think Nicholson Baker meets Sartre. Aiming high (though always did; much misunderstood etc) as I feel pinpricks of time running out.
I need an independently wealthy agent who likes absurdity, sense, and humour. Any suggestions?

Out in wheat fields, Kent. My mouth bombarded by a horse fly who can presumably smell the chicken I had fer me tea. Moral: brush teeth afore evening constitutional.

I’ve found a way in, to my next novel, after much writing and thinking and trying. It’s a relief.

Crikey. Good to know, thanks. And good luck!

Thanks for sharing, enjoyed this. I’m the same; enjoy female company, on the whole, more.
I know you were deluged with submissions for Conduit, and I’m guessing at this stage mine hasn’t made the cut. My niggling worry is that my email hit your junk folder! Anyway, best of luck with the project.

Finished The Bell by Iris Murdoch. It’s great. And nice to see the old 2/3 through panic over how to start to wrap up. Is interesting it’s marketed for women (understandable; men don’t read, or talk), but really it’s a study, a brilliant one, of the character Michael, his history and identity.
