I’ve got leaf fossils from WA State, I believe something like 50 Ma old.
Fossil plants from a rock collected in Larribee State Park, WA. I read somewhere that the age of these is post-dinosaur, approximately 50 Ma (million years old). There are a few leaves and also branches. The piece of wood below the fossil is a piece of bark from the original Connecticut Charter Oak. But a dog chewed the label off it.

This just confuses me.
Canadian nickels are currently made from nickel-plated steel. Between 1866 and 1982 they were made from cupronickel, a combination of 75% copper and 25% nickel. tnetimes.com and Iccoins.com American nickels are made of a cupronickel alloy that consists of 75% copper and 25% nickel. bullionsharks.com

Are Canadian nickels still magnetic? I have one from 1977 that stuck itself to my watch charger. I think they were 100% Ni back then and thus magnetic, whereas US nickels were (and are) 75% copper and 25% nickel. Not enough nickel to attract the magnet.

And what about Canadian quarters?
A Canadian five-cent piece (a nickel) shows that it is magnetic by sticking to my magnetic watch charger.

King tide tonight. It will be a 17 foot swing from the low at 11 pm and the high at about 6 am. This is for a harbor near me.

Netflix crashed a few times while I was watching the first volume of season 5. Other than that my main takeaway from the show is that I am too old for it. I see all the over-the-top nods to 80s style and technology and think they are trying too hard. Less dayglo clothing. Less super-high hairdos.
