I used to love reading dystopian fiction in high school.

Reaaaaally not enjoying living through dystopian reality as an adult.

There used to be a debate about whether reading actually improved people as people or it was just another way to pass the time.

I feel like the 21st century decline of reading and simultaneous rise in ~waves hand at all that~ provides a pretty clear answer.

While some politicians and US citizens bash other countries, firefighters from around the world are flying in, giving their time, risking their lives to help fight California’s fires. Maybe it’s time to rethink how we view other nations—and the people willing to show up for us when we need it most.

It’s scary to watch things fall apart, but it also makes me to want to create art to remember/replace/express what’s been lost.
