50/50 to 60/40 since 2010*

It's marginal but somewhat significant improvement nonetheless - going from 50/50 to 60/40. And this is an issue with an overload of messaging on all sides, vs "abolish ice" which is not a policy opinion that has had the same full court press from either side at all.

I hope you're aware that we have never had Medicare For All before

excellent example.

ironically this guy's "nothing better is possible even if people did bother to try" opinion is itself an opinion that he has gained as a result of political messaging, lol

it's entirely ahistoric to suggest that the media and pundit class, columnists, popular discourse, etc talked about "Medicare for All" as much in 2014 as they did in 2019. leftist politician messaging taught people what was possible and how it would help them

3-1 in favor is still low?

let's take a random example that isn't immigration, UBI. In the US, UBI was not in the cultural conversation until weird grifter Andrew Yang made it his entire campaign. It still has largely not been tried. Support increased dramatically. Messaging was the event. basicincome.org/news/2021/11...

Single payer healthcare is another example. Support reached a valley in 2010, and then prominent electoral candidates beat the drum for Medicare for All from 2015 onward, and support has steadily climbed. impact of messaging, making a policy a cultural meme of sorts. news.gallup.com/poll/4708/he...

"get the fuck out of Minneapolis! but maybe go check on St. Paul while you're in town idk I'm not your boss"
January 14, 2026 at 2:25 PM
for like one day he had the chance to undo his centrist dipshit reputation and actually stand for something but I guess his messaging has landed on "get the fuck out of Minneapolis, but you should defintiely be somewhere else probably"

is 2026 finally the year of Linux malware on the desktop

messaging connects existing problems to policy solutions. the ice events are problems so dramatic and huge that the solution (abolishment of ICE) smacks everyone in the face. good messaging on issues can also accomplish what the system shock of terrible events is doing here.
