Sounders fan. History dad. Food lover.

Free "Cool" Disco Dan.
My kids have reached the age where they can legit wreck me on all the classic games (Smash Bros, Mario Kart).

In addition to the great pride (and sadness) that gives me, it also feels like a legit accomplishment when I manage to eke out a win.

Why for the love of all that is holy would I ever quit caffeine?
Cafes across the U.S. are embracing the low- and no-caffeine lifestyle, with options that are a far cry from dusty tea bags and rewarmed decaf. nyti.ms/3XKlqoj

Since we're doing Sounders' history today. (Yes, it was that cold. 8F IIRC but felt much, much colder.)

In a business meeting and we're legit talking about the negative impact of ICE raids on our business.

I hate that this is a thing on so, so many levels.

You had one job, Whitecaps.

The one and only correct immigration policy. Advanced analytics courtesy of myself.
I am so pro-immigration I find it very difficult to understand nearly any argument against it.

Here's my plan: make all immigration legal.

Implement an Ellis-island style system: show up, let some gringo misspell your name, pass a quarantine and hello new American!

Obvs you'd need to build

All this BS with FIFA really firms up my decision to not pay thousands of dollars to watch the World Cup. F that.
December 5, 2025 at 9:01 PM
Yuck. FIFA is such a vile org they've somehow managed to ruin their own tournament before it even starts.

Lost in the news about the murders of fishermen ... the US spent 40+ years using a bloody supply-side approach to drug enforcement. It resulted in lots of deaths, high street prices, and many, many questions.

TL;DR: supply-side approaches don't solve the problem and generate tons of negatives.

In 'Nam they could pin it on Caffey. Here in '25 it's publicly, vocally, and unapologetically on Whiskey Pete.

What an asshat.

Serious question.

When did the phrase "to have A beef" with something become "to have beef" with something (loss of the indefinite article)?

Or **and hear me out**, we could do the boring, normal thing where we tax rich people and fund public programs that help everyone.

Infinitely preferable to outsourcing social policy to whichever billionaire feels whimsical this week.

I want no part in whatever culture this hag considers "American".

Smells a lot like bland cheese and looks like the suburbs, I'll bet.
Rep. Kat Cammarck: "Today, one in six people in the US is foreign born. That quite frankly is not sustainable to maintain a culture that we are known for here in the United States."

Years ago I worked with an East African refugee group in Minnesota. They'd endured war, famine, and unspeakable horrors to get here. A man I met literally trekked across a desert at 12 y.o. to get a better life.

These are EXACTLY the kinds of people that make our country great.
Trump on Minnesota's Somali community: "They contribute nothing. I don't want them in our country, I'll be honest with you."

Don't threaten me with a good time!
Sen. Eric Schmitt: "This is the language of a color revolution where you're calling on military men and women to disobey orders."

The convo about Hegseth ordering the murders of fishermen reminds me of the scene in Das Boot where the crew sees men on the water and can't save them.

It's a moral turning point in the movie (and a decent allegory for the whole war) and things pretty much go to hell after that.

This thread is one of the best near-future sci-fi pieces I've read in a while.

Possibly the best thing on Bluesky rn.
They called them Near Abroad Direct Action Operations, NADA Ops. The "joke" in the CalSec cafeterias, which made its way out later in the hearings was that "What does the operator say when asked if there are civilians in the area? Nada...oops!". Even decades later, Arizona didn't find it funny.

I can’t even begin to explain how much I’m rooting for Vancouver in the MLS Cup. Like I’m a Sounders fan and it doesn’t even hurt me to root for them. I want Miami to be absolutely demolished on the pitch.

Forget SEALs hacking undersea cables, or ENIGMA, or Kim Philby or whatever ... DOGE was the most spectacularly successful info heist in the history of the world.

If you're ever CFO of a company, do yourself, your family, your employees, a favor and have a fiscal that isn't aligned with calendar year. Holidays are stressful enough without working on the 17th rev of a budget that will live for about three weeks anyway.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Okay, hear me out. Fantasy Island reboot, done as prestige TV.

(FWIW I thought this would've been dynamite way to do Westworld. Bring back episodic TV!)

Trump "deals" are like the deals my kids made when they were three. "Okay I'll go to bed now but I get 500 doughnuts on my birthday."
CNBC: My understanding is the White House said that China was gonna buy 12 million tons of soybeans from the US by January. That's approaching and they've only purchased 332,000. China has not confirmed that pledge.

Seriously. If the NCAA can vacate championships, let's vacate 45 and 47.
When this is finally over, I want his presidency annulled.
