"England, Scotland and Wales have banned the live export of animals, but this horrific trade still continues close to our shores. I urge ferry companies, like Brittany Ferries to stop enabling this cruelty in the pursuit of profit." - Chris Packham

In the lead up to #WorldOctopusDay we've been in Gran Canaria making our voices heard: the world’s first octopus farm would be a disaster.

Pescanova wants to open an octopus farm on the Island, which would result in serious animal suffering & environmental harm.

PROGRESS! This is a positive step that will help improve the welfare of millions of fish farmed in Scotland every year.

So far there have been no detailed legal protections for the welfare of farmed fish in the UK.

This guidance must be turned into legislation to give fish full legal protection.
Progress: the Scottish Government will introduce official guidance for farmed fish.

We are extremely saddened to hear of the passing of our Patron and Visionary, Dame Jilly Cooper.

Jilly was strongly opposed to factory farming and the live animal export trade and often attended Compassion’s campaign events to end these animal abuses.

She will be sorely missed by us all.

The start of a dialogue with Brittany Ferries' leadership is a positive first step. Until now, all of our letters and protests had been met with silence.

Thank you to everyone who has spoken out and called for change. Together, we will keep up the pressure to end live exports! #BanLiveExports

During the meeting, the Director heard our demands. While Brittany Ferries has not yet committed to ending the transport of unweaned calves from Ireland, the company has agreed to another meeting in November, where we will continue to push for change.

Shocking: More than three-quarters of retailers have not set any targets to protect nature.

Our current food system is driving nature loss, which then threatens food security. The time to act is now.
