I covered something similar in Peru many years ago. A highway excavation uncovered the original sewers of Lima which had been built by covering Incan irrigation canals with clay bricks. You could then find a progression of materials in the lines tapping into those very similar to that grafic.

And it's very much worth noting that bridges of this type - defined as "fracture critical" - are typically made of steel and must undergo rigorous regular inspections to detect any deficiencies.

The Hernando De Soto Bridge in Memphis was shut down for months in 2021 for exactly this reason.

In 1977 the largest container ships contained about 2,500 containers (TEUs). The ship that truck the bridge was a more than twice that size; capable of holding more than 8,500 TEUs.

This would be a gross tonnage of approximately 100,000 and a deadweight tonnage in the range of 100,000 to 120,000.
