It's hard and scary because we were never taught how to do it, and because standing up to power and being vulnerable in that way is always scary, but it's worth the effort and occasional heartbreak because the alternative is just depressing as fuck.

Building a genuine connection with people based on solidarity, shared interests, and a shared belief that we *can* build a better world than the one we currently live in, is just so much more fulfilling than the for-profit algorithms feeding on your despair, insecurities, and guilt.

People who feel isolated and alone and have no real hope for the future are way more vulnerable to being sucked into fascist-adjacent online "communities" that are selling them toxic beliefs and products that will only destroy their mental and physical health in the long-term.

seriously though I watched some videos about looksmaxxing, skinnytok, and online gambling and these can all be seen as consequences of capitalist alienation and the eroding of public spaces, the trade union movement, class mobility, and solidarity under neoliberal capitalism
