In a future where the rich kids are being raised with a digital Cyrano beside them to sweet-talk their way into the best jobs, four friends train together for a battle to prove that other kinds of minds might still have the edge.

The October issue of @clarkesworldmagazine.com is out, and with it, a new story by me! "In Luck's Panoply Clad, I Stand" has a mild post-apocalypse *and* a giant queer lady, and I encourage you to check it out along with the rest of the issue.

The convention already has their official photos up here:

I haven't had a chance to go through all of mine, but some of the unedited tourist-stuff went on FB.

Disappointed to miss one of my favorite conventions, but the trip was a lot of fun and time well-spent.

With all the traveling I've been doing this month, I've been lax in my marketing responsibilities and, as a result, we're down 13 over this time last month. So here I am, taking a very jet-lagged moment to remind you that each subscription makes a difference:

Had a wonderful time in Chengdu for Galaxycon. I took a lot of pictures, but the official convention photographs are so much nicer.

I probably took some pictures of things that they didn't, but it's going to take me a while to go through everything.

Landed at NRT 30 minutes early. Ran the whole way and arrived at gate with 15 minutes to spare. Will get home today after all. 13 hour flight incoming.

Leaving Chengdu shortly and heading to Tokyo for a very narrow connection window. Maybe I'll get home today. Maybe not. Stay tuned.

Would have been nice. Maybe another time.

Have arrived in Chengdu. It's been a very long day of traveling.

Halfway to Tokyo. More or less caught up on slush reading. Looks like the latest rejection letters dropped from somewhere near Nome, Alaska. 6 hrs 40 min to go.

It's delicious. Haven't had a bad meal there.

Disappointed to be missing it this year. Should be great, as always.

It's not a problem caused by something you did wrong. It's more a coincidence that the file you uploaded contained a string similar to something the firewall company flagged as a potential security problem. If you resave the file as .doc or .docx, it may change it enough to get through.
