It’s okay to look at where you are in life and say, “I don’t like this part of the story.”

If you are ever feeling lonely, just remember:

You have stories to tell that others can and will connect with.

I’ve never liked the whole “You have to have [thing] by the time you’re [age],” mindset.

Stop putting so much needless pressure on people, especially those who are still finding themselves.

“You are an idiot!”
• An insult that goes nowhere
• Doesn’t help the situation
• Risks the other person doubling down on harmful beliefs

“You are thinking with your feelings.”
• Subtle yet constructive
• Something they haven’t heard before
• Opens doors for self-reflection

You don’t need to “hustle & grind 24/7” to have a sense of purpose or direction.

The art you create is a massive player in how you tell your stories.

• Play a song
• Draw a picture
• Learn a dance
• Try out pottery
• Write a poem

It’s all a part of who you are.

You are not meant to keep so many thoughts clogged in your head.

There is something powerful about journaling every thought and stressor all down onto a sheet of paper or a Google doc.

I Have Always Hated This Phrase…

I’ve always struggled with the question “How are you?”

That’s really hard to answer when you aren’t doing well.

What do I try to do instead?

Instead of saying ‘good’ or ‘bad,’ try to respond with something tangible.

It’s more personal, real, and sparks curiosity.

Describing Stuff Happening vs Telling a Story
December 13, 2024 at 7:19 PM
I’ll go even further and say the stuff you make but expect to ‘make any noise’ the least is the stuff that makes the *most* noise more often than we think!
Can't stress this enough: a random story you write on a lark may end up being the one that gets you the most recognition while the one you really love may get few reads and/or your worst reviews. Don't overthink it. Publishing is a gamble. You'll win some; you'll lose some.
