Yes, at least here in Boston! Definitely good for getting some negative energy out
I'm really excited to have this opportunity to shape the vision for the next generation of the Ed School, so that it can make an even greater impact on the field of education.
I'll continue to teach my spring course, Making Data Count, but will pass the reins on the Evidence course and the Education Policy and Analysis EdM program to colleagues after this summer.
I'll focus particularly on the academic programs side and will oversee the Teaching and Learning Lab, Gutman Library, and the learning, teaching, and assessment team as part of the role.
This week is my first full week in my new role: Faculty Chair, Learning and Assessment at HGSE @harvardeducation.bsky.social. I'll be collaborating with our awesome senior leadership team to create a more cohesive approach to our degree programs and executive education.
Glad it was helpful!
I don't think I have ever felt more viscerally upset by a policy decision - and my side has lost a lot of them lately.

International students add tremendously to our learning environment and help those of us who focus on US policy see our own work differently. Our community will be much the poorer if they are not able to be part of it.

It's notable to me that in Harvard's messaging about the value of research, none of the examples come from education, or even from the social sciences. I'm curious about ways to better demonstrate the value of social science research. How can we address this?

The University will not surrender its independence or relinquish its constitutional rights. Neither Harvard nor any other private university can allow itself to be taken over by the federal government...

If you want to stick with an app, I like Memrise.
If you, like me, are despairing about the state of our democracy, please donate to one of the orgs suing the Trump administration over its illegal actions.

Today I gave to @democracyforward.org and @aclu.org and set up a FB fundraiser to encourage friends to donate as well. Please join me!
100% agree - it has been rough lately, even for those of us a degree or two removed from the immediate impact
So glad you were able to participate!
Hey #aefp2025, I made this timeline about AEFP's history to help celebrate AEFP's 50th anniversary. Check it out!

When we stop collecting data, we stop holding ourselves accountable. And that's the real problem. I'm deeply, deeply worried for the state of our nation.
What a surreal experience to be leading a workshop for education researchers on how to write about their research, in a building directly across from the US Capitol, and wake up to discover that the entire national education statistical staff has been fired.
The peak for cherry blossoms is predicted to be the last week of March, but I'm sure there will be plenty of trees blooming this week too!
Fellow AEFP-attending pollen allergy sufferers: Start your Zyrtec now! In fact, start it two weeks ago. This week's pollen forecast for DC is bleak.

We love this resource in our education policy & analysis EdM program! Thanks @bethschueler.bsky.social for maintaining this super helpful document.

It's that time of year to circulate this list of orgs for those seeking ed policy jobs/internships. Please let me know if there are opportunities/orgs I should add. Good luck out there! docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

It's so good! I'd also suggest Borgen, about the Danish parliament and prime Minister (fiction). It's refreshing to see a fairly functional democracy in action.
I'm so proud of the presidents of my favorite professional association @aefpweb.bsky.social for standing up for education research and data. Thank you @carajackson.bsky.social @dbassok.bsky.social and Michal Kurlaender!
