I've said it already, but the lighting on this is fantastic

Yeah, one of the surprisingly prescient things in that novel is the prediction of the rise of social media/blogs/youtube/twitch as major factors in political discourse - both the way it enables those without major wealth or backing to be heard and the way it can be manipulated for personal gain

it's all so tiresome

lots of layers

double standards in treatment of male and female characters

female fans who reinforce misogyny in their writing and fandom-ing and hide behind "I'm a woman tho" when called on it

fans who defend fictional women but then shit on women in fandom for daring to be too "girly"

I have to remind myself frequently (especially when it comes to visual arts) that my progress is never going to be the same as someone who spends 6hr a day on it (due to necessity or desire/ability)

if it makes you feel better, that was a major reason for my writing hiatus recently, too :/

I know it's not a race, but my TBR is already bigger than I can probably finish in a lifetime and there's nothing quite like the thrill of starting a new book
