redistricting in the USA seems mired in centuries past. In my mind it should be done using an national algorithm that make the districts a regular rectangle or even a hex. State legislature should have little or no say.

I don’t understand how anyone can be a climate change denier. Heat, Floods, forest fires, tornadoes, all way more frequent and stronger than when we were younger. You don’t need propaganda to tell you what is happening - just step outside your door.

Senate passes “The Big Bogus Bill” by one vote. Now on to the House. If passed, the US goes further in debt, Big oil still gets tax breaks, Billionaires get tax breaks, the planet and everyone in the US pays the bill.

Go conservatives!

It seems so obvious, that even if the US cuts the spending on the military by half, there is no way to cut services enough to balance the budget and reduce the deficit.

The "Big Beautiful Bill's" impact on Maine could $4.5 billion or more (over the next decade.) The only reason for the cuts is to give bigger tax breaks to the richest at the expense of the poorest.

Masked and unidentified people claiming to be ICE agents could as easily be domestic terrorists as actual government employees. Anyone they encounter or are abducting has no way to know the difference. Like today's Police in most cities, ICE should be unmasked, and wear body cameras.

There is only one way to balance the federal budget and pay down the deficit.

Raise taxes enough on the most wealthy and wealthy corporations to take in more than is spent in any given year.

Any other “answer” is smoke and mirrors or just plain magical thinking.

The best ever protest of Trumps Soviet style militarist birthday party is if no one showed up.

I can see it now - news outlets covering the missing crowds and empty sidewalks.

Trump will react like the emotional four year old he is.

Windows gone.
Linux Mint replaces it. Future book design work will be using Scribus, Graphics work using Gimp. I have Filemaker running (Wine) for data and bookkeeping. I will miss Affinity Publishing a bit (will be working on getting it running under Wine).

The problem with new Dr Who is RTD.

“Russell T. Davies is one of the leading British television writers of his generation, who specializes in emotional dramas, frequently with gay and sex-related adult themes.” (IMDB)

No surprise they don’t mention syfi. He doesn’t get syfi or Dr Who.

Has anyone seriously considered just a 5% cut in the military budget to help balance the budget without raising taxes or cutting the social safety net?

Just saying...
