Not such a weird place for an office security camera

Oh, that poor would-be lunch-haver. That is NOT the direction I expected this to go

The two are not mutually exclusive. Mostly because I presume she doesn't know what mutually exclusive means

Yes. And bear in mind, your cats love you. You wouldn't dare tell them they're wrong, would you?

Because what others think is often not simply a matter of opinion. People have reasons for their opinions, even if those reasons are rooted in emotion or not particularly rational under scrutiny.

When are we obligated to care more about another point of view than our own? When can we rightly not?

But could you donate every spare penny to charities to save kids from starving, at the low cost of never enjoying a dessert again yourself?

Would the kids think that's worthwhile? Would, from a neutral standpoint, that be right? Would it be good and worthwhile for you?

But what do you do with that? You have to care about others. That's non-negotiable. And doing things that are good for you but not for others is a terrible tightrope to walk; some things are obviously too far, i.e. crimes.

And is that a reason not to try? Well, no.

But it can become far too easy to discount your own opinion, if you try to consider everyone else. (Especially if you're a tad depressed beforehand.) It's awful that life involves hurting others, if only passively. White moderates, as MLK Jr. said.
