The grandkids and I were messing about with stop motion videos last year and I made a little horror film for them 😂

Be as insulting as you like with regard to that Santa 😂 You can’t beat ‘bitter sweet’ to sum up the memories we have of loved ones lost

I found that little story quite moving 🥲 I keep a Christmas memento of my late mother’s, who also suffered mental decline. The family all call it Evil Santa and we laugh and cry about it at the same time.

Just a shame you can’t predict it. Sometimes conditions seem to be just right then it fizzles out. The wind is gradually changing here now - I suspect we’ll be back to our usual westerlies soon enough

Well thank you, but it’s a good thing I’m not writing a scientific paper on the subject 😂

The bar, or bars, are very variable. One year when there was a strong and consistent blow they got as far west as the Lake District. Sometimes you can be right under it. I like the old name for Cross Fell - Fiends Fell would better describe the howling and screeching of the wind!

This is just a baby because the wind is gentle but has been in the right direction for a while. The cloud bar - or bars- can be huge and the fells wreathed in heavy cloud - like a helmet. A proper helm blow is truly fearsome!

Speeded up footage of a roll cloud caused by Britain’s only named wind the Helm. North Pennines in Cumbria. An easterly, or thereabouts, wind rushes over the fells, hits the ground on the westward side, bounces back up and spins, often forming a roll cloud - basically the Fohn effect
