The Ft Pierce rest stop broke my record for fastest DC charging: 234kw. This was preceded by an earlier stop in Pompano, but the chargers there (same network: FPL) provided a measley 40kw by comparison. I've seen a few 350kw stations around, but haven't tried them yet.

Hopped... sparkling water? This was a new experience, but a delightful one.

Yes, definitely a convert now. I snagged an Ioniq 6 in the rare-but-excellent digital green color. It's been a thrill so far!

Still thinking about this cozy beer garden in southwestern Maine from last weekend. Pizza, beer, 70 degrees, 45% humidity. Just incredible.

Hi. I don't have anything of substance to add to the current discourse, so here's a loon on a lake.

Pleased to snag a signed copy of Al Reynolds's new novella. This is now my second signed book by one of my favorite authors.

From one of the local protests in Casselberry this morning. Overheard organizers estimate about 2000 in attendance, by far their largest turnout yet.

Sometimes I think about resubbing to @washingtonpost.com but then they put out utterly humiliating garbage like this, an absolutely embarrassing double standard, and I only wish I could cancel my sub again and again and again

Returning to Kerbal Space Program to get my mind off.. y'know. First time playing with far future tech + interstellar mods. What a treat - I should have done this sooner. Experimenting with nuclear salt water drives and an antimatter torch ship.

The Maritime Museum and the adjacent Bath Iron Works are well worth the visit if you find yourself in coastal Maine.

I haven't toyed with Pixel phones' astrophotography mode a whole lot, so it's interesting to see it consistently produce modest streaking during a few attempts tonight. I'm not sure if it moderates exposure duration for individual frames based on light level or if it sticks to a fixed timer.

This Florida boy still knows how to get a wood stove going, despite only occasionally being able to practice. 💪

Despite working on OSS I don't lend a lot of value to the heat map on GitHub, but it is very satisfying when you merge a big update to master/main and watch the tiles fill in accordingly.

Got lucky during my afternoon circuit around the office yesterday and spotted a sundog! Don't see these very often.

Predictably, one of those most phenomenal weather days of 2024 in Orlando arrives on one of my in-office workdays. 😠
