Anybody got any ideas for where I could submit an article called "Gideon, 'Breaking Bad,' and toxic masculinity"?

Since it's the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, here's a piece I wrote a few years ago tackling one of the main ways folks tend to minimize or dismiss the horror of the residential schools - the idea that it was done with "good intentions":

When ‘good intentions’ don’t matter: The Indian Residential School system
Variations on the myth of “good intentions” are invoked as a tool against the truth that the legacy of the IRS tells. Here’s why that needs to stop.

Friends, I was "Reviewer 2" today, and for the first time ever, I did it gladly. (Sometimes I've been Reviewer 2, felt bad about having to do it, but needs must.) I've never reviewed a manuscript with such a dismissive tone before.

Nothing is going to improve in Canadian higher education until the political class accepts that we need to make it better rather than cheaper. How will we know they have accepted it? When they are prepared to put institutions ahead of voters and raise tuition.

As some of us in the backwoods move to the larger seminaries... this is what we bring with us!

As an academic administrator, I like flexible policies/guidelines in a lot of instances because then I can do what I judge to be appropriate. But they are so open to abuse, or even just simple unfairness. I actually prefer clear policies with boundaries - more equitable.

I do a lot of peer review, happy to do it. I turn down requests when the abstract is just silly. I'm getting more of those. Eds need to do more desk rejects & journals have to be clearer that not everything will be sent for review. Authors need to be more selective about where they send their mss.

American exceptionalism at its very finest.

I did this a couple of months ago. It is very good.

"[The makers of AI] want to build a genie to grant them wishes, and their wish is that nobody ever has to make art again. They want to create a new kind of mind, so they can force it into mindless servitude. Their dream is to invent new forms of life to enslave."

I considered writing a long carefully constructed argument laying out the harms and limitations of AI, but instead I wrote about being a hater. Only humans can be haters.
I Am An AI Hater
I am an AI hater. This is considered rude, but I do not care, because I am a hater.

Well, considering they wanted to include themselves in a new ruling junta, I'm thinking not. More and more, invoking the EA is looking like the Cdn equivalent of South Koreans scaling the gates of the legislature to uphold democracy from a wannabe dictator.

The Canadian Freedom Convoy people who argue the Emergencies Act was a dictatorial abuse of power agree that this use of power bears the ‘hallmarks of unreasonableness’ too, right?

For folks not in DC:
- There are full-on police checkpoints most nights
- Gangs of 30+ federal agents roam DC
- National Guard folks w/ guns patrolling a Harris Teeter
- Every day, multiple friends see ICE kidnapping ppl
- Daycares are scared to have kids go on walks due to ICE

That's not a lot. Maybe Trinity Western? I don't know their program but I see a lot of their MA students giving language based presentations
