Added some @cms.bsky.social zines, some buttons, and some resin experiments turned into necklaces to the local take art / leave art box. #DHmakes
A box with a pencil drawing, origami, some necklaces, buttons, and zines

oh hell yeah it’s beehiiv time!!!!

they're all still free to download individually if that's the move you want to make, but $10 is a discount on the "suggested" price for all of the zines (since they're, you know, not free to make from an emotional labor perspective)
cms.bsky.social
it's unexpected expense season AND weird income season, so I'm offering all my zines at once for $10 in case you want to support and/or just read some stuff about gender, or gender, or the mistakes i made in college, or asexuality ✨

I just explained this project to someone and she was very into it, so I figured I’d offer an update

I’m still doing this btw! and now that we’re somehow in the last third of the year, I’m thinking about how I’m going to write about this experience, the (digital) data I *did* keep and why, etc. 👀 #DHmakes
cms.bsky.social
honestly, #DHmakes, not just for the zine but for my 2025 letter-writing project mentioned!

I’m (hand) writing a letter to a different person every day, mostly not to be sent. some of the only digital data I’m keeping right now is who & how I know them, but we’ll see how that evolves over time.

I don't know what I want my newsletter to be anymore, so I went back to buttondown and cleared out my past posts and am now aiming for "chill."

quick life updates, thinking aloud about writing for no one, and a bonus new zine(!):

i don’t like having a gender or pronouns and picking “they” is really just me rounding to the most approximate vibe

Howdy! I’ve got a new @slate.com story, about some really fascinating work researcher @cantonwiner.bsky.social is doing around asexuality and a concept he coined called “gender detachment”
A Researcher Was Studying How to Classify Gender—and Found a Startling New Answer
Turns out there’s more to the gender spectrum than we’d imagined.

new zine! NONTRADITIONAL, or the time I tried to legitimize my fleeting interest in journalism by going back to school & had an internal crisis about being unconscionably old (25) #DHmakes

PDF (free+): cms0008.itch.io/nontraditional
physical copy ($2, U.S. only): ko-fi.com/s/af4d8de1c0
Two pages of a tiny zine. The first page says, I had trouble with the phrase "nontraditional." Strictly speaking, I wasn't even a typical nontraditional student. I didn't have a full-time job or kids, and I didn't delay my education, just this education. But surely once people found out I was 25, they'd assume things about me. So I adopted the most embarrassing intro. Hand drawn picture of Christine's head, with a speech bubble that reads, Hi, I'm Christine, I'm 25 btw haha this is actually my second degree. The second page says, I was humbled many times as I worked on this degree. I joined the student newspaper, where my 19-year-old editor had a better handle on all things journalism than I did. Hand drawn picture of Christine with question marks above their head and a blonde girl, the editor, with exclamation points above her head. My new friends hustled for internships, juggled leadership positions in student orgs, and even won academic awards. Sure, I'd been on the planet a little longer, but I had nothing to show for those years but my B.A.
