Hi, I’m Codanaut. Linux nerd, ham operator (KF0TPL), aviation data hoarder, and professional overthinker.
I tinker with tech, mess with radios, and start more projects than I finish.
Great evening for my daily bike ride. A little chilly but not unbearable. Skipped the last few days because the wind was blowing me backwards faster then I could pedal.

Went to do my usual morning 20m FT8 and the local radio station is blowing right over it today. It usually blast out the entire 12m band leaving it unusable but this is the first time its caused issues on 20. Guess it’s time to get a band pass filter.

Put up a new 20m dipole between two trees. Somewhere between 25-30ft. Made a plastic holder out of a laptop back plate for the balun so any strain isn’t pulling right on the connectors. DX is working great on ssb and really amazing on ft8. #HamRadio #AmateurRadio

How am I able to pickup ft8 signals without the antenna plugged in? They are very faint but it’s picking some up and decoding them. #HamRadio #AmateurRadio

I'm having trouble getting a contact with North Sentinel Island on ssb or ft8, does anyone have advice on reaching them? I tried switching from HF to smoke signals, but it didnt seem to help.
