I've heard enough people get scolded by them that i just don't answer anything if they are between .290 & .310. Today was the first time i caught someone asking many times if the freq was clear before calling CQ just to get yelled at anyway. Felt bad for him. Disgraceful and makes Hams look bad.

Interesting read, and quite funny that the more they tried to double down on their stance in the comments, the more downvotes they got. I’ve listened in on the net several times and I’d definitely say if I was on a sinking boat, that is not who I would want to be calling for help.
