I really hope Terry Pratchett had some inkling that the Vimes Theory of Boots would end up being referenced all over and often politically. I suspect he would have been incredibly amused by all of us. And maybe pleased at how much it helps people see how our system currently works.

This is a great summary of what's going on in particular sections of the news media. It's obvious that the only real issue that the tabloid media has with Zack Polanski's mouth is that he uses it to say that we should lift up people who are struggling instead of the rich.

Please try your best to avoid supporting organizations that are funding Trump's hate crusade. If that means resorting to a less convenient way to play music, or going without the latest phone model for a year or two etc... they are small prices to pay in order to send the message "Hate isn't ok"

basic run down of how i recommend pratchett to people:
hoo boy, this is very visual. it's a venn diagram of three circles, consisting of various pratchett serieses, and then i'm put including brackets to indicate the paradigms i associate with each to recommend the right series to the write person. So... ok, i can do this. If someone colon lives in the countryside: witches. has been part of a team or corps: guards has worked in academua or been a student: unseen university and rincewind. if they're all for multiculturalism: witches, guards, small gods, or pyramids. if they understand politics and or socio-cultural norms, or if they read either spec fic or paranormal books: guards or unseen university, with a crossover at moist von lipwig if they had a shitty boss or family: witches or unseen university, with equal rites being both the aforementioned, and the tiffany aching books fitting here too And the centre is Death and Susan.

I think it's fairly obvious that Labour, much like the Tories before them, are just doing all they can to make sure they have as many favours to call in from rich people as possible.

Getting into power was just part of their career development plan.

As the weather gets colder, animals are attracted to heat. Prior to performing any computationally expensive operations, please make sure to check any PC towers with top mounted radiators for cats.

I'm opposed to gatekeeping, but Jesus Christ, sometimes I do miss the days when the Internet was just a bunch of nerds, and we mainly just called each other noobs based on which operating system, text editor etc... that people had chosen.
