This happened to me except (cw: gross medical stuff)
it was a severed ureta and I ended up with a hole in my side that i had to drain several times a day and they made me measure and write down how much fluid came out and it was SO MUCH FLUID I hated it. Then it got infected several times.

I've been making these lists lately and I'm finding it's working really well, especially if you're a discovery writer (i.e. an idiot) and can look at this list and quite quickly figure out which of your existing characters suit these traits based on their personalities.
