This is a really bad metaphor. Houses serve a purpose, but math homework doesn't NEED to be solved. I like Ted Chaing's metaphor: using AI for homework is like using a forklift to move weights in a gym. No one needs weights in a gym to be moved. The desired change is /within/ you.
I think his friend could come up with a more apt metaphor if he didn’t use chatgpt all the time.
