Blue Proustian Moment is a really excellent yuri manga on manga plus (for free to read!) that is not getting nearly enough attention. Complicated and compelling protagonist together with pointed commentary on gentrification and classism. Read it today!

i agree with the criticisms of how gqux treated nyaan but I think deux is almost a better example of the show's contradictions. it pretends to be a critical reexamination of gundam only to include a stock-standard Crazy Teenage Girl who needs to be put down like a dog.

once you start thinking about it the sheer number of characters and plot threads that went nowhere in gqux is mind-boggling. even code geass wasn't this bad. just off the top of my head: diablo, alphacider, the pomeranians, comoli, cyber newtypes, kira-kira as addictive, refugees, beanie haro...

I think it's fair to call gqux fanfic because, like fanfic, it relies upon preexisting audience investment in the characters and world. The ending revolves entirely around Lalah and Char and the show makes zero effort to establish either of them. It just assumes you already care.

I think one of the funniest things about people arguing whether or not GQuuuuuux will actually be gay or if they’re setting up “Amate x Shuji” or “Nyaan x Shuji” to be endgame is that it seems to be missing the fact that neither of the girls actually give a fuck about Shuji, like, at all
