they have a point. Realistically, the presidential elections are decided by voters in Michigan, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and the other couple of swing states.

there's also the whole corporate duopoly situation

...AND the fact that party affiliates ultimately decide primaries, not voters themselves.

unfortunately capitalism seems to produce capitalists at an unsatisfactory rate

when someone says "modern" I always have to do a little mental process of elimination. do you mean post-industrial, Modernist, "modern art," contemporary... ugh

he doesn't look like a stereotypical classical Greek, but he certainly looks like a continental philosopher lmao

sure, but i think Jeff's point is that declaring it to be an "animalistic human nature" thing is unfounded (and uninteresting)

in other words, I feel like the juxtaposition of something that happens every night being so intensely special-looking makes me appreciate the world that we have. just my 2 cents.

I feel like sunsets fit into a perfect niche -- they are predictable and common, but some effort and/or luck is required to get a truly spectacular view of one. when we DO see a great one, it feels special but reassuring that beauty can be so easily accessible and yet still mesmerizing

I had to look up for refresh what an Adjuster is.

#Adjuster - ‘An insurance adjuster, also known as a claims adjuster, investigates insurance claims to determine how much an insurance company should pay for a loss.’

fascinating. I see an eerie parallel to the assumptions of infinite growth in the wider economy. our society really is built on the idea that we will never run out of resources, whether that be time, health, oil, etc.

I'm all for that, but it is nice that if I want to listen to a new album it takes me like 2 button presses to get it to play.

from what I can tell, iTunes is just a storefront for individual downloads now. I can't find a way to sync music from the shitty file browser, but maybe someone with more experience can elaborate.

Apple Music, which is more streamlined and restricted, has effectively replaced it. most people would rather pay a monthly fee to stream music and use playlists than pay for per-album downloads. it's an ease-of-use thing; I don't necessarily agree with it but that's the way it is
