We're deploying this method at our microbiome restoration X ERW trial in Wales with @thecarboncom.bsky.social. It's probably the only way we can get weathering data at high enough resolution to properly model weathering rates and associated carbon removal.

Lysimeters only work if the soil has enough water. If you've ever tried, it seems like these instruments barely work. Jones et al. instead use an ultra centrifuge to measure alkalinity at any soil moisture level, and demonstrate this method is more effective for detecting changes in ERW projects.

This feels like some clutch your pearls attitude! Don’t know enough to evaluate, it’s not open access (so everyone who’s not at an academic institution can’t read, which seems to be self defeating in and of itself)
