Birding mainly between Easington and Spurn and Outstrays along the Humber. No lists, just enjoying looking for my own stuff.

Plenty of variety of birds and birding on @wisebirding.bsky.social Thailand tour. From watching Giant Nuthatch, Spot-winged Grosbeaks and Parrotbills in the mountains to Long-billed Plovers and Yellow-breasted Buntings in the paddies en route to Doi Inthanon this morning #WiseBirding #phonescoped 🇹🇭

Collared Owlet showed very well indeed yesterday in Khao Yai NP for the @wisebirding.bsky.social Thailand tour group, showing the “false eyes” on the reverse side of head at times. Endemic Rufous Limestone Babbler as we headed north this morning #phonescoped #WiseBirding #Thailand 🇹🇭

Another long walk from Easington to Spurn and back for Angie, Winnie and myself today. She’s doing 50 miles for Dementia UK this month, so any donations gratefully received here fundraise.dementiauk.org/fundraisers/...

Three hour walk along the Outstrays from Patrington to Skeffling with Mrs B. and Winnie and hardly another soul in sight. Black Brant, a Light-bellied Brent and at least 28 Russian White-fronts at Welwick were the best birds of the day.

25/12/25. Plenty of wildfowl on view around the Spurn area during our Christmas Day walk. As well as the usual dabbling duck there were 3 Barnacle Geese on the wetlands and a small group of grey geese on Easington Straight included 7 Tundra Beans, 4 ad’ Russian White-fronts and 2 Pinks #phonescoped

The Black Brant (alongside 2 Light-bellied Brents) was on Weeton Outstrays again this morning in the Dark-bellied Brent Goose flock #phonescoped @birdguides.bsky.social

Presumably the 4 (2ads) Russian Whitefronts from Spurn have relocated to Old Channel Marshes on the Outstrays now. Also 11 GWE, male and ringtail Hen Harriers and at least one Merlin in the area this morning. #BirdTrack #phonescoped @birdguides.bsky.social

“Should be some White-fronts around” were my words to Mrs B. as we walked the Outstrays yesterday, so nice to see 4 in the Triangle at Spurn this morning while the sun was still out #spurnbirds

Winnie enjoyed her walk around Easington this morning. Hume’s Warbler calling by the Tithe Barn in the village and 2 Black Redstarts around the terminal (including a cracking male on the rocks) made for a pleasant morning #spurnbirds

November Swifts and Wheatears always spike interest. Unbelievable views of the Pallid from the Easington garden this morning and then this Isabelline on the breach at Spurn this afternoon #phonescoped #spurnbirds

It’s been a couple of weeks since the Yellow-browed Warbler influx started in earnest at Spurn, so it was nice that one has frequented our Easington garden (our first for 3 years) over the last few days @bto-gbw.bsky.social #BirdTrack #spurnbirds

With unpleasant weather forecasted for the next few days, I thought I’d have another look at the Black-faced Bunting again this morning. Much closer than the other day and performing well for the early small group of birders, it was well worth the bike ride along the Spurn peninsula #spurnbirds
October 22, 2025 at 9:31 PM
After a lean spell, Spurn delivered today when @andyfmears.bsky.social found a Black-faced Bunting at Middle Camp. An elusive and mainly silent Hume’s Leaf Warbler at Sammy’s Point was a fitting end to the best day of the autumn here so far #spurnbirds
