Her tormenter in chief, Dan Wooton, is the absolute scum of the earth. But let's be frank about this, in Britain there is, and always has been, a market for this stuff. There probably always will be. A third of the people here are irredeemably horrible, and another third are simply not nice.

The UK's tabloid journalists behave the way they do because there is a large appetite within the UK for such salaciousness, truthful or not.
There's a lot of horrible, spiteful people in the UK. The tabloids merely exploit that seam of bitterness to generate revenue.
It's a societal problem.
