One opened this month in the large shopping center 15 min away from me — so far the greens have been good

The greens can be so hit and miss depending on how long they’ve been out there though

Orange chicken and broccoli beef Is my usual plate but I’m very basic and have ordered this at Panda forever. Oh, and half chow mein, half steamed rice.

after 3.5 years working PR on tools that increasingly involved genAI, it's interesting to watch the media assessment move to serious concern about the "circularity" on the deals being cut b/w OpenAI, Nvidia, et al.

I didn’t realize how much my internet friends meant until I started receiving gifts from them for the kids and for us not long after their birth

(my wife did not understand the Michigan pacifiers or Gator socks but appreciated the wine membership)

Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and I would nerd out together while Beaker would be there for my chaotic moments

I dunno off the top of my head if any of y’all reading this have 3+ kids but I have no idea how you’d even manage being outnumbered by your progeny

Picture here is from 1992. LA riots. Ive seen this called bad news judgment. In any real journalism outfit this is more like a firing offense. I basically say such things. Beyond belief.

Back on April 2, Speaker Johnson swore in 2 House Republicans - during a pro forma session - who were elected the day before. Anyone who says Adelita Grijalva D-AZ can only be sworn in when the House is back and voting is lying to you.

it really was performative, because a lot of us like the theory of reducing policing in public spaces and yet revert to wondering where the PD is when we see things that cause us discomfort (public drug use, homelessnes, mental illness, etc.)

(there's a diff b/w this stuff and assault, for example)
ericacbarnett.bsky.social
Hard to believe, but there was a point (in 2020-2021) when even elected officials publicly asserted that over-policing of public spaces, like buses and transit stops, leads to profiling and doesn't make people safer. This seeming, arguably performative, consensus didn't last, and here we are again.

I hope Darlington Nagbe's final act as a professional soccer player is lifting MLS Cup one last time. Odds probably aren't good -- the Crew are in the wild card match spots -- but it'd be amazing to see.
colindurant.bsky.social
And he could very much have starred in the European club competitions -- his control and footwork are so good, and it's incredible to see how good it remains at age 35.

But doing that wasn't his style. Wouldn't have been Darlington Nagbe. Thanks @felipecardenas.bsky.social for the great piece.

In my mind there is a version of Darlington Nagbe that accepts the trasnfer to Celtic and continues to play for the USMNT -- he was the natural successor in the pool to Michael Bradley and could have been that missing mid-to-late 20s star the team needed in Qatar.
colindurant.bsky.social
Nagbe should have been a Timber and club captain after Valeri; I still miss him in Portland and what hurt the most about losing MLS Cup to Atlanta was seeing him be so integral to the Five Stripes. I have continued to root for him since he went to the Crew.
felipecardenas.bsky.social
Darlington Nagbe decided over the summer that 2025 would be his last season in MLS. He stayed quiet about until today.

Nagbe, and those closest to him, spoke to The Athletic about his decision and the emotional conflicts of his announcement.

yeah this record blew apart everything.

Metallica are the Miles in yr analogy IMO -- they did a lot of the foundations and plenty of groundbreaking stuff, but Slayer/Coltrane blew the doors open to another level
