This article hits home. I’ve started bringing a comfortable chair to the kitchen when cooking, moving upstairs to my office earlier in the day, and, most importantly, asking for help when I need it. The shame and guilt are still there, but I’m trying to accept my #chronicpain every day.

It’s hard for me to enjoy social media because I never assume anyone wants to hear what I have to say. I prefer people read my books, stories and ideas I think are worthwhile. But I have to market, so I post about my process because that interests me, and hopefully it will interest someone else too.

this "passion tax" appears all over the place & should be talked about more. you see it in book stores and game stores all the time

excitement for particular work is constantly weaponized to depress wages & pit workers against each other

Claudy pointed to what he calls the “passion tax.” Game workers, he said, often get paid less than their tech industry counterparts because they’re passionate about what they do, and passion can be taken advantage of. Microsoft is a tech company, making discrepancies all the more arbitrary.
