With regards to DUNE, the thing that stood out to me, as an impressionable 14-year-old (first time readinging it), was that even if you could somehow divine the future, you might realize that there was no good path forward.

What I'd personally love to see is two servers, with a character on each server. No crossover. You get a PvE character, and a PvPvE character, and never the two shall meet.

I was ambivalent about the idea of a PvE server before, but after this weekend, I just don't see a longterm committment without it. I'm already bored of players killing me. I'd much rather explore the world, make friends, and help people with their quest & gear. The PvP holds no value to me.

If you don't care about the PvE demographic, then no worries. The PvPers will drive them off.
If you do care about them, then you're going to have to provide a solution. Because I don't think many PvE folks are sticking around if the past 3 days are an indiciation.

So if you're Embark, the question becomes: Do we want to retain these PvE folks as customers? You've sucked them in with an amazing world, great enemy AI, and truly emergent gameplay. Do you want these players to keep playing, streaming, and creating content for your game?

I've read so many posts from PvP players saying that if Embark made a PvE server, it would kill the game, because the PvE crowd would leave. But I think if they don't do it, the PvP crowd is going to drive away the PvE folks anyway. One way or another, they're going to leave.

Embark has done an amazing job with this game, to the point they've drawn in a LOT of players who are not PvP fans. They've come for the world, lore, & PvE, but they're only tolerating the PvP.
As the PvPers become more brazen and toxic, I wonder how long before the PvE folks abandon ship?
