They’re nice, and you can fool people with them if you’re waiting at a red light and some twit next to you in a BMW thinks they’ll leave you behind! I take your point about range; I got a long range Tesla because I do a fair bit of long distance driving, I drove it to North West Ireland last year.

What type of car do you have (if you don’t mind my asking!)

Yes and range is really only a thing on long road trips. I drive from NL to the UK 3 or 4 times a year and just need to stop 3 times for a supercharge. I need to stop more often than that anyway for a human supercharge!

I will now fess up - I mentioned my canal side parking experience last week. There’s a sticker on the back “I love my Tesla but I hate Elon Musk”. It’s far and away the best car I’ve ever had. It glides over the raid and its range is superb.

My mother grew up in a very similar terrace in Bradford, but the stones were all blackened from the smoke back then, which made it all a bit depressing.

I agree, although I would have spelt the word ‘cult’ slightly differently.

The same goes for software engineering imo. I’ve been a practitioner for nearly 40 years and I have always regarded it as an art form.

I’ll circle back and reach out to you on that going forward.

Yes agreed, my point was about the relational design model dictating the app design which I’ve seen too often. I prefer object databases and even then I only use them to store serialised Java object instances.

How about “don’t use Oracle it’s an expensive pile of shit”?

Simultaneous equations:

Cat + bunny = 10 equation 1
Dog + bunny = 20 equation 2
equation 2 minus equation 1
Cat - dog = -10 equation 4
Dog + cat = 24 equation 3

equation 4 - equation 3 =
Dog * -2 = -34 so dog = 17

Dog + cat= 24 so cat = 7

Cat + bunny = 10 so bunny = 3

Relational databases are horribly constrictive things. I basically forbid their use in my company, and always have done. What you need is a persistent data store that doesn’t dictate the end to end design model, which is what happens far too often imo.

Apart from all of which he’s an ugly bastard.

I hate that stupid Americanism “reaching out”.
December 12, 2025 at 6:58 PM
Or as you could have said “Russian and American fascists …….” - that’s what Trump and his government and supporters are.
