game netcode is pain!!!111!!!!1!!! but fun

meanwhile i figured out an extremely basic follow camera for 3d platformers that doesnt require a pivot camera (ignore the missing face, bad shaders sonic model)

thinking and testing using texture cards for the face details instead of poly mesh. both have their upsides and downsides but i really like how this looks already

BIGGG changes, LOTS of audio stuff, but im too lazy to record audio atm!! (about a dozen randomized ambient sounds)

new props, interactable windows, buttons, and a small minigame within a window! (janky but its jam stuff so)

(also surprise character at end :))

im starting a lil late unfortunately but imma try and make the most of my time!!

came up with a game concept, began modeling props and environment. started on the camera transition system. AND the monitor uses a viewport texture for the screen with a subviewport :)

initial level test! experimenting with materials, set pieces and mechanics. very rough atm but im liking how its turning out so far :3
- switch activation for platforms
- doors with optional lock mechanic (very sa2 lol)
- props, ambient animation, etc.

looks wacky here but for my game I simply had a rigidbody with an area3d as the cone and made the cone go flying when the player's area touched the cone's area. also used jolt physics instead of default

moving platforms! godot supports them for characterbody3d, but since my player is a rigidbody I needed to make my own implementation (its very jank! but works flawlessly so far). I use a path3D for the platform trajectory and a path follower to move it along the path :3

oh ya sliding now allows you to go under small gaps!! forgot to do until i made a sliding section in a level and realized i couldnt go under it xd

first blaster shooting test! very wip :3

- reticle that tries to smartly target a shootable object using distance and input angles (recycled homing attack code lol)
- projectile moving and destroying objects
