I had no expectations going in, but I'm in awe of how good of a setup this was. This is what an issue 1 should do. The story & characters are clearly introduced. It's high stakes and fun. The last few pages really pulled me in. This is what an event should feel like!

Jim Lee confirms DC Comics will not support AI-generated storytelling or art
comicsmatter.bsky.social
Comics matter does not play favorites between the stories we love. We are staunchly against AI "art." To this we also say "hell yes!"
kellythompson.bsky.social
Hell yes.

Jim Lee promises that DC will never use AI, saying "AI doesn't dream, feel, or make art."

My wife referred to oil, vinegar and mayo as "Sandwich Lube." This is how I will refer to it going forward.
comicsmatter.bsky.social
Thank you for the wonderful book! The story was fun and easy to follow, and I loved the representation! It's a book I could hand off to my wife and know she'd love it, and she doesn't read much outside of Gotham or indie titles. Have a fun and safe time at NYCC btw!

Ubisoft canceled an 'Assassin's Creed' game set after the Civil War

• Featured a Black Assassin who was formerly a slave

• Would fight the emerging Ku Klux Klan

• Leadership canceled it — concerned with US political climate & Yasuke backlash

I have not read #Marvel Comic published after 2017 until today. @jeremywhitley.bsky.social put out a great book that I rate as "New and returning reader friendly." Great hook and great Character introductions. This is EXACTLY what I want in an Issue 1.

I don't like "buying" a digital item. I do really enjoy the marvel/DC apps and Globalcomix. I'll pay for a Library or streaming service of books. If I'm going to buy a single thing, I'd rather it physically so I can pass it on.

I do miss having a huge list and getting a bunch of singles every week. I just don't have the room for it and I'm actively getting rid of my collection to subsidize future purchases and try to support and grow the show a bit. I love the stories and the art. I don't NEED the stuff personally, but

I'm not sure if I'm excited for #DCKO but the people at my shop were so invested in it that I picked up the first issue.

I feel like this may not be for me, but the joy and excitement of people in the store was something I couldn't ignore, and as Superman once said "I form my own opinions."
comicsmatter.bsky.social
Thank you so much for the repost! This book is something special.

It's rare I will buy singles anymore, but this got added to the list. I look forward to the rest and will be covering every volume as they come out!
comicsmatter.bsky.social
Hey #comicsky it's #NCBD what are you picking up?

I'm grabbing Superman the Kryptonite spectrum number 3, and hopefully a couple back issues of a few things.

Day 8: Scottie Young

This is an interesting day. Although Scottie Young is a fantastic artist and his art makes me smile every time, I don’t buy his covers. I generally want something more serious unless the book itself is more whimsical.

#comicskycoverartists #comicsky #comicbooksky
The Skottie Young cover to Avengers #1 (2012) shows the Avengers as babies/tots trying to retrieve a cookie jar on top of the refrigerator. Iron Man is directing the team (he says, “Oh, now a little to the right.”). Hulk is forming the base, with Captain Marvel on his back boosting Wolverine in her right hand and Captain America in her left. On top of Cap is Thor, with Spider-Woman on top of Wolverine and Black Widow on top of Jessica. Natasha almost has her hand on the jar. Meanwhile, Spider-Man is crawling up one side of the refrigerator while Hawkeye in on the other side, shooing an arrow with a line on the end.

That is an absolutely wonderful book! I have not read in years. I'm getting rid of a lot of singles that I have collected in TPB or HC, those are some of the few I will keep.

Actually this is exactly what you voted for and enabled, but better late than never to the opposition I guess.
A screenshot of an X.com post by @RollingStone
, Rolling Stone, posted 13 hours ago, stating, "I voted for none of this. Prominent influencers, including Theo Von, Joe Rogan, and Andrew Schulz, are starting to distance themselves from the president they helped propel to the White House," with a link to a story on rollingstone.com/politics/politics. The post includes a "REWIND" section with a headline "MANOSPHERE INFLUENCERS WHO BOOSTED TRUMP ARE NOW COOLING ON HIM" by Nikki McCann Ramirez, dated October 6, 2025, and a photo of Theo Von making a peace sign at an event in Nashville, Tennessee, on March 9, 2025.

IF we can gin up enough interest in this over this month, we can probably launch this campaign in November. However, if it's still looking a bit slim, we'll probably hold off on this until the new year.
So, help me spread the news!

Posting horror comics for Halloween.

The Deviant is a gripping tale of a man who is arrested for killing boys and staging them as Christmas displays. He claims to be innocent, but he is convicted.

Years later, Michael interviews him and starts digging into the case—and is framed with new murders.
Cover for the second trade paperback of The Deviant, showing a man dressed as Santa Claus holding a blood axe in his right hand, his costume covered in blood, and his left hand holding a Santa mask. His face and shoulders are shrouded in shadow. Art by Joshua Hixson.

This was an amazing read! I am excited to re-read it in December as well.

The pain of waiting for the second TPB was rough, I can't imagine month to month.
