In Potts’ view, while kids and readers could idolize Captain America, they should never have idolized Frank Castle or his life. “Occasionally, I'd get a letter from a younger reader that said, ‘I love The Punisher and want to grow up to be just like him, ” Potts said. “No matter what I was doing, I'd stop dead in my tracks and write a letter back and ask if he really wanted to be a miserable, violent person who cures nothing and just hurts people? If he did, then he was missing the point of the story.
“I worried about it, because for every one person who wrote in, there were probably 10 who didn’t. The Punisher was not someone to be admired and emulated. This was a pitiful human being we were writing about.”

I really liked issue one. It reads well for folks new to Star Trek but also has bits that will resonate for fans. It’s set in the far future and the heroes have wayyyy less resources than usual. It gives things an edge.

I have another hot take. The portal device on Peacemaker? That’s based on New Gods tech which is why the portals make a boom. Like Mother Box’ Boom Tubes. And those helmets Peacemaker wears? Also stolen tech. They look like Orion’s helmets.

What a fantastic story. Having met Mike, he’s so low key, I can kind of imagine that.
Back when New Mutants came out, I was excited to read it so it fulfilled its purpose but I remember finding it odd to see Cable with a real gun when he usually carried sci-fi blasters.
