Democracy requires an educated population and an independent press, not MAGA and Postmedia. We are doomed unless we fix this. Nonpartisan centrist living in the Comox Valley.
Our “trade relations red line” needs to be steering clear of nations that threaten us existentially.
So far, the only shitty dictatorship fitting that description is the USA, although you could argue its new ally, Russia, also fits the bill.
Let’s hold our nose and trade w everyone else.

The fact that the UCP are still polling 44-51% while they are explicitly #MapleMAGA, corrupt and batshitcrazy is an indictment of a big chunk of the Alberta electorate, and shows how weak the ABNDP’s messaging is.

Do these people really think an independent Alberta would have any access to the BC coast?
We all know that the Republic of AB would become the US State of AB quickly, but those pipelines to the coast here in BC are fixed in place and can’t be diverted to Montana anytime soon.

A nascent and deeply corrupt dictatorship threatening a longstanding brutal and corrupt dictatorship.
My sympathies go out to the innocent citizens of both nations, but the political leadership of both should be sewn into a sack together and thrown into a crocodile pit.

I was career military and actually at the Ottawa announcement way back in 2010 the first time we said we were buying the F35.
It doesn’t matter if it’s good or not. The USA is now an existential threat to Canada. We shouldn’t be buying US anything.

What a dickhead!

The #MapleMAGA base of the UCP will be satisfied with one thing only: the Stars and Stripes flying over Alberta.

Now make a show called “Qualicum Beach Shore” featuring people from QB and I’d watch it.
E1: Gladys confronts Ernie about the mystery Werther’s Originals she found in his walker pouch. Is he having an affair with Joan from Chair Yoga class?

Now that the Budget has passed, a federal election - planned or based on a lost confidence vote - is probably at least a year away. The dynamics of what is strategic could be radically different by then, based on the last year. So 🤷‍♂️…

I’m in North Island-PR and the LPC vote split (in a riding that hasn’t gone LPC in 50 years) got the CPC elected, so I’m glad the same thing didn’t happen in C-A.
Every riding is a different election so strategic voting to keep out the CPC is much different on VI than the ROC.

Several Greater Vancouver and Victoria ridings that shifted from NDP to LPC this time may go back to NDP, as will longtime NDP ridings like mine that went CPC this time.
This move will not lead to more LPC seats anywhere in BC.
November 27, 2025 at 8:18 PM
Politically, I don’t know what Carney is thinking. Nothing will placate AB or gain the LPC seats there; Trudeau already tried to no avail.
But this move threatens many of the LPC seats in BC.
November 27, 2025 at 5:54 PM
Nothing you do will appease Albertans or increase the LPC seat count in AB. Trudeau tried the same thing.
But this does threaten the LPC seat count in BC, which is significant.

Clearly that fat binder he brought into the studio had no actual answers in it.

I don’t want him delivering the Goldstream Gazette. That means he’s on the island! 😂
November 27, 2025 at 2:45 AM
While I agree, every riding is a separate election and the CPC could still win even with that dumbass in charge, if a number of variables work in their favour. Every federal election in the foreseeable future is going to be an existential crisis for Canada.

No scandal would be too weird for this creepy guy to be implicated in.

I lived in Nanaimo when they spent a bunch doing this. It’s still Nanaimo, still a hole, but hey now it’s got a sign.
Lame idea supported by municipal politicians who have zero vision, no matter where.

The $750M that BC Hydro spends buying dirty electricity from AB and WA every summer could be cut to zero if the province was serious about solar power - which is at max generation exactly when hydro stations go offline due to low river flows.

Lawson was a consultant for Lockheed-Martin and is still a consultant for other companies.
His opinion on any defence procurement issue should be considered the opinion of his clients.
In other words, ignore him.

More of this and less of sucking up to the Trump regime.
And you better not buy F-35s or most Canadians are going to lose their shit.

America is quickly transitioning into a Christian theocracy, but for only white evangelical Christians.
