Preliminary numbers show that 40 people were seriously injured or killed on Bellevue streets in 2025 - a record high.

2026 needs to be a year of record-level action and investment in safe infrastructure to turn the tide. Our city cannot wait.

7 new speed cameras are coming to Bellevue streets in 2026!

These will make our streets safer while bringing equitable enforcement of our speed limits. Thanks to Bellevue City Council for the unanimous vote!

We urge Council & staff to quickly move forward w/ implementation of more locations.

This past Sunday was the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.

We thank Bellevue City Council for honoring the occasion with an official proclamation, and we urge leaders to work hard to make Bellevue a city where nobody loses their life on our streets.

2 months ago today, we brought community-led tactical urbanism to Bellevue for the first-time ever!

Park(ing) Day showed what was possible if we're willing to use some of our streetspace for people instead of cars.

From tactical to traditional & everywhere in between, Park(ing) Day always brings out the best examples of urban seating.

Our cities could be more pleasant & accessible if we used some the space where we store cars to store *people* instead. Come see what's possible in Bellevue on September 19th!

With just under two weeks until Bellevue's first-ever Park(ing) Day, we wanted to spend time this week highlighting some excellent installations that have been trialed in other places. Along the way, we'll talk about the magic of Park(ing) Day and how it helps us make better cities for people.

As a member city of the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO), Bellevue has access to data, case studies, and best practices that should guide its own transportation planning.

We don't need to reinvent the wheel to bring better bus service to Bellevue!

A block of text from NACTO's guide that reads, in part: Giving the bus its own lane increases ridership by improving bus travel time and reliability. In New York City, the 14th Street busway halved transit travel times on the corridor, increasing ridership by 17% in just two months without increasing traffic congestion on adjacent streets.56 Similarly, a four-block bus-bike lane on SW Madison Street in Downtown Portland allows eastbound buses to move as much as 76% faster, benefitting thousands and improving safety for bicyclists. 57 Dedicated bus lanes on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles similarly cut travel times by 28% for over 90,000 daily riders. 58 Dedicated bus lanes are quick to implement and easy to refine. In particular, the COVID-19 pandemic illustrated how quickly cities can install bus lanes. In the summer of 2020, as traffic congestion started to return, cities like Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. installed bus lanes in just a few months by streamlining approvals and limiting or eliminating the standard red paint treatment.
