This is extraordinarily corrupt. But I still think he’s far more malevolent and sociopathic than merely corrupt.

I have been screaming this for weeks. The constitutional crisis isn’t with the executive branch (though yes it is acting lawlessly), it’s Congress. The calls are coming from inside the House, as it were

I agree with this. I will also add that usually well-informed non-academic progressive voters I talk to have absolutely no idea what is going on in higher education and research and the long-term repercussions+

I've seen folks talk about how "in four years" they'll be able to get back to their planned projects and I really don't think that's going to work out. People & projects losing funding now will not be able to hit pause and come back once funding is restored. Hard-won progress & capacity will be lost

I worry that not enough of a big deal is being made about how long-term the devastation of these budget cuts to our scientific and health agencies will be, beyond the absolute ruin they will cause in the acute period.

A Florida weatherman telling his viewers he can no longer be confident in his forecasts due to cuts to atmospheric science is the kind of resistance content I’m here for.

Kudos, Sir.🌦️

The Congressional Budget Office said the sweeping Republican bill to cut taxes and slash federal programs would add $2.4 trillion to the national debt over the next 10 years. Fewer services for the American people, but yet more debt.

Several guests who attended Trump's crypto dinner last night said they attended with the explicit intent of influencing him and U.S. financial regulations.

Trump is selling access to our government to the highest bidder while lining his own pockets.

It's all out in the open.

While Trump makes a wish for more investigations, we’re funding the fight for democracy.

On June 14, attend your local No Kings nokings.org event, then donate to your favorite candidate or cause and add a tip to support our friends at ActBlue! secure.actblue.com
The illustration is a cartoon, likely digitally created, featuring a stylized version of Donald Trump as the central focus.

Trump is depicted comically oversized, wearing a dark suit and red tie, his face exaggerated for emphasis. He's in the act of blowing out several lit candles on a birthday cake decorated with simple frosting swirls and sprinkles. The cake is positioned on a table covered with a colorful polka-dotted tablecloth.

Surrounding Trump are miniature figures. To his left, a young girl with blonde hair and pink dress stands smiling; to his right, a young man in a dark suit seems slightly awestruck. A young Black child is also present, partially concealed near the girl.

Behind Trump hangs a slightly crumpled "Happy Birthday" banner with large, brightly colored letters. There are also several balloons floating to the upper left and a wrapped gift to the upper right of the frame. The background is a solid light yellow-tan color.

The overall mood is satirical and critical. The small size of the people next to Trump emphasizes his dominance, possibly suggesting his power or influence over those around him. Text across the top states "Blow Out the Candles, Don - We’re Shining a Light on Your Lies.", clearly aiming to convey a message of disapproval. The text at the bottom encourages donations to opposing candidates and tips via ActBlue, further reinforcing the political commentary. The cartoon style, while colorful, uses exaggerated features to create a humorous yet pointed critique.

While Trump covers his eyes and hides from accountability, we’re showing up loud, proud, and organized.

On June 14, attend your local No Kings nokings.org event, then donate to your favorite candidate or cause and add a tip to support our friends at ActBlue! secure.actblue.com
The image is a cartoon-style illustration, likely a political commentary, centered around a caricature of Donald Trump. Trump is depicted as a large-headed figure with his signature blond hair, his hands covering his eyes as though he's playing peek-a-boo or intentionally avoiding something. His expression is somewhat obscured, but hints at discomfort or unease. He is dressed in a dark suit and red tie.

To the left, a figure resembling a man in traditional Arab clothing (possibly a reference to Middle Eastern relationships) is partially visible, seemingly looking on. To the right, a man in a suit holds a wrapped gift, likely alluding to gifts or bribes. A small child-like figure is partially visible behind the gift.

The background features balloons, celebratory streamers, and a party-like atmosphere. The colors are muted, predominantly yellows, oranges, and blues, giving a retro or vintage feel, and contributing to the cartoonish effect. The overall mood is satirical and somewhat accusatory, suggesting that Trump is avoiding something that others are facing openly and directly. The caption reinforces this by highlighting the contrast between Trump hiding and "We're Not" – "we" referring to the onlookers and perhaps the viewers of the image themselves.

The text at the bottom explicitly promotes donations to political campaigns, turning the image into a political fundraising design, with the ActBlue online donation system mentioned. This political context ties the visual satire directly to a specific political message and goal. The style of the image uses deliberately simplified, almost childish features, generating a contrast between its playful aesthetic and its serious political implications.

Union members make 18% more on average than their non-union counterparts and are 60% more likely to have health benefits and almost twice as likely to have retirement benefits.

Unions can also provide you job security if the boss fires you for no reason -- or no good reason.

This reads like a fire signal to alert the more oblivious members of the Supreme Court that we are on the precipice of everything falling apart.
joshuajfriedman.com
Whew, this conclusion from the Fourth Circuit:

"We yet cling to the hope that it is not naïve to believe our good brethren in the Executive Branch perceive the rule of law as vital to the American ethos."
It is, as we have noted, all too possible to see in this case an incipient crisis, but it
may present an opportunity as well. We yet cling to the hope that it is not naïve to believe
our good brethren in the Executive Branch perceive the rule of law as vital to the American
ethos. This case presents their unique chance to vindicate that value and to summon the
best that is within us while there is still time.
In sum, and for the reasons foregoing, we deny the motion for the stay pending
appeal and the writ of mandamus in this case. It is so ordered.
For the Court
