Golde... wait what

whoops

Rally Edge is so quick on Deck I can't even check the actual framerate, as forcing VSync off doesn't work, and in-game the highest FPS cap I can select is 144 😅

Fun fact - this function is responsible for force-updating the terrain data in the Greystone area, and is intended to hide the fact that otherwise the terrain will progressively morph. This effect is not hidden when looking around in the interior cam, so you can see this effect.

"Hmm, I wonder why King of the Road hitches for one second every time I travel through the mountain passes to Greystone?"

...oh, right.

This new The Sims 3 performance patcher sounds pretty crazy ngl
github.com/sims3fiend/S...

I wonder how they profiled that... Profiling apps with no source access is a bit of my blind spot at the moment.

Corporate needs you to find the differences between this picture and this picture.

I got one-shotted by this debug tool.

yeah this isn't right

Time to make good use of @Kaizo M's research and deal with buggy weather conversations ⛈️

Border color is a nice way to debug texture wrapping issues, and it reveals that all those trees have an incorrect sampling mode set (as evidenced by a 1px line floating around them).

Aww, I wanted to try this masterpiece, but it crashes at the race start even if I use dgVoodoo or DDrawCompat 😭

The default overhead camera is just fine for rallying, but being able to look at these glorious cars up close with the chase camera is something else.

I did not have a "ChoroQ rally game" in my 2026 bingo card, but Super Woden Rally Edge has bonuses that deliver on exactly that.

This reminded me of what I saw in Agents of Mayhem years ago - "Standard Issue" getting translated as if "issue" meant "problem" in this context
January 26, 2026 at 10:39 PM
A small pet peeve of mine - every other rally game has a Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500, but not even ONE game features a Sierra Sapphire that also did some rally over the years. Maybe one day we'll see it in some game...

Clio Kit Car my beloved 😍

It's too late, our player blips have already been separated

Today I learned that this specific FH5 translation line was fine in pre-release copies, as evidenced by this footage from October 2021. It's also fine in the current version of the game, yet my launch copy in November 2021 had a nonsensical "[literal] horizon, that [one] is Mexico".

Gymkhana is really satisfying when you manage to keep your lines smooth.
January 25, 2026 at 6:55 PM
For comparison, that's how it looks without sub-pixel movements:
January 23, 2026 at 9:45 PM
King of the Road's minimap was "snapping" to the UI grid coordinates, which with D2GI meant a 1600x900 grid. This made the lines distort, but also made icons (especially the other drivers) stutter. Implemented a solution to preserve sub-pixel movements, and everything is smooth!
January 23, 2026 at 9:45 PM
D3D9 call counts for the minimap drawing before/after my changes - safe to say I made it draw a bit more efficiently.
January 22, 2026 at 8:19 PM
What I wanted to do: Optimize the minimap rendering.
What I did instead: Found a bug in DXVK.
