We stand, always, on uncertain ground. I'm an otter. I try to be kind.
Which is infuriating because they drown out good economic study and data. Remember how Biden's handlers didn't realize how bad most Americans' economic situation was? It's because they were looking at the wrong indicators, and seeing that corporations and the stock market were happy.

Economic "professionals" are at best quacks and charlatans, and at worst manipulative liars in service of the ruling class

Well, no, most people aren't rational or informed consumers. It isn't really reasonable to expect people to exhaustively research every purchase they make, either--but the myth is what allows for deregulation and other evils, it shifts blame from companies to customers

The most valuable cultural myth we have is that we can improve ourselves.

It used to be in our public consciousness that this is what we strive to do. And have done before.

Better people turned their shame into action. Small people use their shame as an excuse for nihilism.

The disease we have in this country right now is that we believe our sense of purpose is to make money.

No. You make money as a reward for doing something with purpose. Like running a hotel, or running a restaurant, or selling products.

You forget what you're in the business to do and you'll fail.

Ugggggh. Well, with any luck, maybe it'll do her good to see all those normal people who don't live in the same crazy bubble she does.
