Hades 2 is a bit infuriating. What do you mean that last save was "less than a minute ago"? Did it save after I unlocked the cards? do I have to unlock them again when I resume? Do I need to go to the other room and back again to trigger the save? WHAT DO YOU MEAN!?

Rocketchat is actually not free. It gives you shit every step of the way for you to pay. I really don't know how they are considered open source. I gotta try mattermost.

I tried it, but notifications don't work at all. It is the nicest I found so far, but still can't make the notifications to popup (not even in browser) even once. After trying it out with my group of friends we decided that it was just not it.
I would contribute but have no clue about Ruby 💀

I've been trying different self-hosting options for chats but none of them are good enough. They all either require an absurdly complicated setup, or are fake open-source with features locked in behind a paid tier.

I really don't want to make a chat app, please, I don't want to. Any recs?
