I think the one valid argument you could use is that, on export, you might not know for sure how the ngons will get triangulated and that could change the silhouette in some cases, but that’s a real edge case if you’re paying attention at all

maybe one last thing but, while I liked the broader point of the article, the Alex Evertech thing is a bad example. if you go to a con you're going to see people be "weird." you don't have to see it as a freak show. at their ideal a con is supposed to be a celebration of our collective strangeness

TL;DR it’s just common sense/decency at this point - treating essentially random people like public figures has destroyed many lives by accident. It sounds dramatic, but imagine if your LinkedIn was on someone else’s post that blew up! That would be your nightmare. Don’t do that!

Unless it’s truly something that the community needs to know for safety’s sake, you cannot trust random people to act rationally or responsibly with that info. It’s 2025, too. Reputation isn’t the only thing at stake from otherwise-niche online interactions, and our community is vulnerable enough.

I think the piece going around rn about cringe culture in Furry has good points, but I am on my knees begging you: please do not put your peers’ legal names, places of work, or other identifying information into a piece that people *could even perceive* as framing them negatively. It’s not safe.
