My Fair Lanky is an S-tier joke.

You spin me right round, baby, right round.

So yeah, this whole affair feels like a net negative. Not a career ender (For Albo at least. Anika Wells will probably cop a fair amount of the blame.), but a mess that didn't need to happen that brings the Albanese government's ability to identify problems that they should address into question.

There's also the whole deal with the High Court case, which could end with the ban being ruled as unconstitutional because (amongst various other arguments) it effectively removes young people from being able to exercise their implied right to freedom of political speech in various public forums.

Not to mention that the K-ID system is deeply flawed and there's not much stopping someone obscuring their age with the right props. Using the honour system with the internet has never been perfect, but this is definitely a step back that helps nobody.

Which means that the folks who are ultimately worse off are the adults who need to verify their identity. I get that K-ID's photos aren't supposed to leave the device that they're taken on, but I've seen too many data breaches involving information companies were never supposed to retain.

I don't think this is going to be the huge career-ender that I thought it would be a few days ago. But I doubt it'll do any favours for the Albanese government either. Teenagers are just moving on to different platforms that the government didn't think about because they just aren't as prominent.
