A big piece of advice for the incoming folks getting used to Bluesky:

Likes don't do anything really. I mean, they give a little shot of serotonin. If you want to actually spread something, sharing is the way to do that.

So share others and reshare your own stuff. There's zero reason not to.

In addition to how deeply wrong I believe this to be, it makes clear how complex our fight for the future will be.

We all need to REALLY understand why this is wrong and dangerous. And this is not only about people with dementia.
The comments on this are all about how sweet it is and I feel insane. Using AI to make fake memories of your grandma with dementia and telling her they happened and then filming her reaction

Humans: "humans are trash, I hope we all die"

Literally all other animals: "shit, I need some help, I should go find one of those giant terrifying apes, they'll fix it for me, cause that's what they do"
we were out hill-walking once when I was a teenager, and a little grey cat started following us in the village, then followed us all the way up the hill. we stopped for a picnic and she came to curl up and sit in our laps. when we went down to the village again she meowed and went her own way.

It's been a few days since the whole social media ban was implemented here and it seems to have largely been a whole lot of nothing. Which makes it all the weirder that the government decided to celebrate the whole ban thing by lighting up a bunch of buildings.

Today is the last day that Australians can access social media without having their faces scanned, which is not only incredibly fallible but is also going to ensure that everyone's faces are stored away in an archive that will inevitably get hacked.

The only thing less human than these AI dub performances is the decision to sign off on them

A company this big can pay human actors a decent wage, not produce slop that intentionally removes the human element.
