He's trying to model for other senators how not to pivot to "what about low prices?" at the end in a way that sounds like cynical pandering. They key diff isn't the focus on prices; it's the focus on people. People want to think you see them as people, not disgruntled consumers who must be "handled"

I am still shocked by the degree that casual racism has been completely normalized in the US. I shouldn't be after the last 10 years, yet I am.
