Have you been putting off upgrading your home? We get it. Life’s busy, and it’s easy to let another year slip by. But cold draughts in winter, stuffy rooms in summer – and a home that isn’t kind to the planet – won’t fix themselves. But....

Imagine a world where every home already has a heat pump. Quiet, efficient, unremarkable. Your home is warm in winter, the air is fresh, the costs are stable...

And then along comes a “revolutionary” new invention: the gas boiler…

What if gas boilers were a new invention? | Let’s flip the script
Gas only feels “normal” because we grew up with it. Heat pumps are simply the next step in home heating – cleaner, smarter, and already here.

Not silly in the slightest – you’ve hit the nail on the head. The best climate stories start with real people and real heating.

Ha! Completely agree. There’s a time for grand visions, but sometimes the most powerful story is just doing the practical thing. Fewer moral abysses, more warm homes and lower bills.

Start with a heat pump, not a hymn!

Who would have thought? Even in the hybrid combination of a heat pump and hydrogen boiler, hydrogen proves to be too expensive.

Local electrolysis proved too expensive, H2 gas came from Belgium (carry gas to Groningen is the applicable proverb here, I guess).

I'll never purchase another gas-powered car. When my high-efficiency furnace needs replacing, I'll install a heat pump. Oh, and by the way, China is not only rapidly replacing carbon fuel with renewables, they're also exporting the technology, making it cheaper by the day. But do go on, Danielle. 🤷‍♂️

Can't find a direct link. More likely: From 2025, Dutch rules are set to require fully electric heat pumps in new builds, and from 2026, replacing a central heating boiler in existing homes will often have to include a hybrid heat pump alternative.

Brilliant resource! There is nothing like seeing heat pumps in real life.

Just to note, we’re not connected to the Visit a Heat Pump website – we simply think it’s a great idea. Hearing directly from homeowners cuts through the noise and helps people see how well these systems work in real life.

Brilliant – that’s what we love to hear. Real comfort, less oil. For anyone curious about how heat pumps perform in the real world, try visiting a home near you: visitaheatpump.com

Well done for taking the leap – that bit of inertia is real! For anyone still on the fence, it really helps to see one in action.

Did you know? Homes with higher #EPC ratings sell for more.

New Halifax research shows energy-efficient homes don’t just feel better to live in. It’s worth knowing how your home performs, and where small improvements could make a difference.
