dominions there based on princely states and so on, especially the bigger ones like Hyderabad, Mysore, and Gwalior getting more land. Others could be formed like a successor to the Sikh Empire. Not sure if we'd get World War 2, but devil in the details, especially in other places.

Reminds of when Alt History Hub also did their own approach with that. I think some combination of the two could work. I don't know how earlier de-colonization would work. I could see the British giving Dominion status to a lot of their colonies, with the British Raj divided into multiple...
