Otherwise, lots of good food in areas like 'K-road' or Parnell.

Had amazing cocktails at Panacea in the city recently too!

Non-fancy thing kiwis do well, and that you can't really find in the US, is (savoury) pies. Many bakeries do them well, but there are also pie awards if you want to find the best, with several winners in Auckland (www.pieawards.nz/winners/pie-...).

Macron remarks are notable- some quotes: "We have been incredibly naive in entrusting our democratic space to social networks that are controlled either by large American entrepreneurs or large Chinese companies, whose interests are not at all the survival or proper functioning of our democracies."

Jane Goodall was my first childhood hero, as I loved animals as a kid and was inspired by her story. I still remember the National Geographic specials about her. RIP.

Yea, it's really about so much more than birds.

Hilarious and beautiful (free) film on Youtube. Pokes fun at extreme birdwatching (listing) but is actually more deeply about the joys of birding and being connected to nature ❤

Australia is home to approx 24,000 species of native plants 🌿

This #BiodiversityMonth, we’re celebrating the beauty and diversity of native flora — from orchids to mistletoes.

Our guide books are your companions for exploring them: www.publish.csiro.au/PlantsAndFun...
The orchid Prasophyllum candidum, photographed by Lachlan Copeland, from the book Guide to Native Orchids of NSW and ACT. The flowers are arranged in an alternating pattern along a straight, vertical stem. The flowers are a gentle pink colour with yellow centres and rust-coloured outer petals. The mistletoe Amyema linophlla, photographed by Kevin Thiele, from the book Mistletoes of Western Australia. The plant has long pendent like protrusions covered in a soft grey-green fuzz. The seeds of the Macaranga tanarius, photographed Hugh Nicholson, from the book Australian Rainforest Seeds. The seeds are dark, almost black, with light green spikey exteriors protecting them. Blossoms from the wattle Acacia genistifolia, photographed by Alan Gibb, from the book Wattles of Victoria and Tasmania. The flowers have white filaments with yellow anther, and long spear-like green phyllodes growing from the stem.

The psych job market may not be dead... but it is gravely injured 😬 So far it's looking like the Trump administration's attacks on higher ed/research are going to have more than 2x the impact on the job market as the covid-19 pandemic. #psychjobs #neurojobs #academicjobs

Ever wondered why you keep going to that restaurant with stale fries? Is it because you went often in the past (perseveration) or because you remember past good experiences better (positivity bias)? Our study out in PNAS investigates the normative basis for these biases www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...
