The first measles death in the US in a decade -- the tragic, preventable death of a child whose parents chose not to protect them with vaccination -- should spark an immediate nation-wide campaign to ensure all children are protected against preventable diseases. Anything less is unconscionable.

Now park rangers are being let go. My daughter has been following the junior ranger path and collecting badges since she was 3 years old. In addition to rangers, countless former students and colleagues have lost their jobs in humanitarian aid, human rights and development sectors. Devastating.

Votes have consequences for - life saving foreign/humanitarian aid, global health including prevention efforts, asylum to keep people safe and strengthen the U.S. economy, initiatives to mitigate the effects of climate change, and human rights and democratic programming globally.
