For a decade, he has helped make our voice heard in the spaces where humanitarian principles, public health, and policy intersect, defending access to care for millions around the world.

Thank you, Jason, for your tireless dedication and unwavering advocacy for humanity.

As a global public health expert, he has also worked on the ground during multiple emergencies from Ebola outbreaks to refugee crises and armed conflicts, bringing both compassion and evidence to his advocacy.
msf.ca
Jason’s leadership was also instrumental in championing humanitarian carve-outs in Canada’s Bill C-41, protecting the ability of humanitarian organizations to deliver aid.

He has guided our humanitarian diplomacy through some of the most defining global moments of the past decade including

the #COVID19 pandemic, fight for equitable access to medicines and calls to scale up humanitarian assistance in places like Haiti, DRC and CAR.

After 10 years of leading our advocacy and humanitarian diplomacy, @jwnickerson.bsky.social is stepping down.

Since joining us in 2015, he has been our voice on Parliament Hill and among Canada’s diplomatic community, a steadfast advocate for people caught in crises around the world.

The healthcare system in #Gaza is in ruins. Hospitals are barely functioning and medical staff have been working without fuel, electricity or food.

Our teams continue to respond in Gaza, but the needs are overwhelming.

“There's been a responsibility for world leaders including Canada to uphold International Humanitarian Law and that doesn't simply go away at the flip of a switch or the announcement of a peace agreement,” says @sana.msf.ca, Executive Director of MSF.

#Haiti: No one should fear being shot while walking to school, shopping for groceries, or seeking care in a hospital.

In Port-au-Prince, violence is escalating. Armed clashes are sending more civilians to our hospitals with devastating injuries.

What is one thing our colleagues lost, miss and cannot escape in #Gaza? Hear our staff reflect on living and working through the genocide.

Doctors Without Borders calls for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the bloodshed.

Watch Claire Magone, MSF General Director, share the harrowing reality of hospitals in #Gaza, from inside #NasserHospital.

We call for an immediate halt to the violence and concrete measures to protect civilians. Israeli authorities must ensure safe access to humanitarian aid.

💔 This is Omar Hayek. He was a kind man, the sole provider for his family, & one who brought the highest level of professionalism to his work as an occupational therapist for @msf.ca.

This morning, Omar became our 14th colleague killed in an #Israeli attack.

Israel’s war on #Gaza has dragged on far too long. Over the past two years, Israeli forces have killed over 66,000 people, including 15 of our staff.

We call for an immediate and sustained ceasefire, an end to the siege and access for independent humanitarian aid at scale.

💔 (1/4) We've lost a juggernaut in @msf.ca. Abed El Hamid Qaradaya was a powerhouse with deep expertise in physiotherapy & occupational therapy.

Today marks 10 years since the bombing of the Kunduz trauma centre, #Afghanistan. We remember the 42 lives lost, including 14 MSF colleagues.

Since reopening in 2021, our teams have treated over 95,000 emergency patients. Hear how the new hospital is helping the community.

MSF strongly condemns the killing of Omar Hayek by Israeli forces this morning in #Gaza. Our thoughts are with his family and colleagues.

Omar is our fourteenth colleague to be killed in Gaza since the war started. We call yet again for an end to the genocide.

This morning, we delivered your voices to Parliament.

While we don’t have a response yet, we know this: Together, our voice is powerful. And we will continue to use our voice to demand real action from the Canadian government! #cdnpoli

A maternity hospital should be a place of hope and new beginnings. Yet in Gaza, that hope is clouded by stress and uncertainty. Even amid an offensive, hospitals should be protected.

We call for an immediate end to the violence and for concrete measures to protect civilians.

During the attacks, which continued throughout most of the night, a pregnant patient went into labour. She delivered under extremely stressful conditions and experienced postpartum complications. Both mother and baby are now stable.

Due to the proximity of tanks to the hospital, medical staff decided to relocate patients to the basement for their safety. This decision prevented more patients receiving shrapnel injuries.
